a celebration of the Gameboy music movement

it looks like the chipmusic scene is starting to gain some traction and move further away from it’s tri-state roots (nyc, philadelphia). offworld is reporting that the SXSW festival will be showcasing a chiptune on march 18th featuring live performances by: bit shifter, nullsleep, IAYD, anamanaguchi, 8bk ok, the graffiti monsters, and sievert.

i was lucky enough to catch a number of these artists when i attended blip fest 2008 in brooklyn, ny this last december, with 8bk ok and sievert being the only acts i wasn’t lucky enough to witness.

the show will be taking place at the alamo drafthouse who will also be screening reformat the planet–a chiptune documentary–by 2player productions on march 10th and 11th.
